Send a Teacher Traveling Award

ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours is proud to announce the Send A Teacher Traveling (S.A.T.T.) Award, designed to recognize outstanding public school teachers throughout the United States. We believe that public school teachers (K-12) are the nation’s most important human resource. We further believe that by encouraging teachers to participate in educational, active travel opportunities, like those offered by ExperiencePlus!, countless students who come into contact with those teachers will benefit.

Since the program began in 1996 we have given away over 25 free bicycle tours across Europe and Latin America.  Monica and Maria Elena, current owners of ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours are excited to offer such a great program and their parents and founders of the company, Rick and Paola Malpezzi-Price – both educators themselves –  will assist in picking the winner.

Who Can Apply?

Any public or private school teacher employed at least half-time in the United States is eligible to apply. Past S.A.T.T. winners are not eligible, although they may support new applicants.

Applications should include the following:

• A  personal letter explaining the teacher’s credentials, why they feel they should receive a free bicycle tour and how s/he will use the S.A.T.T. experience in their classroom.
• Another letter from a supervisor verifying that the teacher meets the requirements of K-12 Public or Private School teaching and be employed at least half-time.
• Two letters of recommendation from colleagues, friends or peers should also be included.
• Indicate the specific tour that you feel will enhance your curriculum and why. (TourzPlus! partner trips are excluded).
• Your mailing address, email and phone number.

Deadlines and Rules

All materials must be submitted together and postmarked by February 28, 2015 or emailed to tours@experienceplus.com.

Winners will be selected after consideration of all application materials and will be announced by March 23rd and travel must be complete by January 1, 2016.  Though the tour is free the recipient must submit a $500 deposit. The deposit will be refunded at the conclusion of the tour, unless the recipient withdraws from participation. In which case the deposit will be handled per our Terms and Conditions.

Recipient will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the tour, meals not included in the itinerary, and any pre/post tour expenses. If the recipient prefers their own room for the tour they will also be charged a single supplement fee. If they are willing to share there is no additional cost even if we aren’t able to match them with a roommate.

Though we feel teachers everywhere should be rewarded for their efforts the SATT is open to K-12 public and private school teachers in the US. Teachers outside the US are not eligible.

The award has no cash value.
