The 26th annual National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest is now accepting submissions until June 30, 2014. Official categories include: Travel Portraits; Outdoor Scenes; Sense of Place; and Spontaneous Moments. Official grand prizes include:
• 1st Prize: An 8-day National Geographic Expedition to Alaska for two
• 2nd Prize: A 5-day National Geographic Photo Workshop for one in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Did you arrange your own work abroad program? The Christianson Grant awards up to $10,000 to travelers, aged 18-28. Note: International work must not be part of a degree requirement or for class credit. Christianson Grants are awarded three times a year. Applications must be received by March 15, July 15 or October 15.
Hadley, Massachusetts: Flying Object’s ResidencyX is a live-work residency program open to emerging and mid-career poets, writers, visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, performance artists, and multimedia artists, including comics, literary nonfiction, visual art, architecture, design, music composition, performance, film and video. Functioning as a place for readings, performances, screenings, art exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and informal gatherings, Flying Object is able to provide residents and audiences with opportunities to experience and participate in unique approaches to a wide range of creative fields. ResidencyX will be divided into two periods, fall and spring. The respective periods will be defined by a theme– the Fall 2014 period will focus on the theme of identity, while the Spring 2015 period will focus on memory. Although applicants are expected to consider the theme, they should not feel discouraged from applying because their project ideas do not explicitly address it. Upon their arrival, accepted residents will receive up to $1,500 that can be used for project supplies and services, meals, vehicle rental and other expenses (excluding travel costs). Residency housing includes a fully-furnished bedroom, bathroom, living and dining room, kitchen, and studio. Supplemental funds (up to an additional $1,500) may be requested in the application and must be explained in detail. Applications are considered on a rolling basis. $20 application fee. Flying Object currently only accepting submissions for residencies that begin after January 1, 2015.

How can you be selected for this trip? The blogger who raises the most funds for Atlantic Impact through the challenge guarantees him/herself a spot on our trip. The Neville Shulman Challenge Award is an annual award of £8,000 to further the understanding and exploration of the planet: its cultures, peoples and environments, while promoting personal development through the intellectual or physical challenges involved in undertaking the research and/or expedition. Applications are invited from both individuals and groups. Deadline to apply: May 2, 2014.
Ellensburg, Washington: Ceramic Artists invited to apply for 2 to 4-week residencies at Gallery One. Residencies are to take place during the months of June-October for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks. Selected artists will be provided with monetary stipend of $1000 for one to three weeks to cover lodging, travel and other amenities; 24-hr access to a studio space during residency; and recognition of achievement in press releases, advertising and promotional materials, and on our website. $25 application fee; apply by April 30, 2014.
