Prague, Czech Republic: La Casa de la Artista is a new artist residency opening in April 2014. Visual and multi-media artists, photographers, musicians, dancers, writers and designers are welcome to apply. Artists will be provided with a shared live/work space and positive and creative work environment with other artists, possible opportunities for exhibition depending upon projects, an introduction to Prague, a free class on Czech language and culture and access to any other free workshops that may take place such as self-guided life drawing and fine art nude photography or yoga. Residency periods last from 2-4 weeks and cost is $400 for two weeks and $800 for four weeks per artist. Artists may apply for a longer residency if more time is necessary to complete the project. There is also a $200 deposit that will be returned upon completion of the residency providing no damages are made to the spaces. La Casa de la Artista is a fiscally sponsored project through Fractured Atlas which means that any business that donates to your residency fees is making a tax-deductible contribution. Applications accepted on a rolling basis, but payment must be received in full no less than 60 days prior to residency dates, i.e., the deadline for the April 1-April 15 session is February 1. Note: Chicago artists will have a unique opportunity to come to Prague as part of the Pilsen to Plzen project.

The Siena Art Institute’s Summer Residency Program awards accomplished professional artists & writers the opportunity to stay for a month in the beautiful historic city of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. The month-long residency grants resident artists space and uninterrupted time to pursue their own independent projects, as well as the opportunity to explore the area of Siena, and interact with the local community. Resident Artists are provided:
- A private studio at The Siena Art Institute for four weeks.
- A private studio apartment in downtown Siena for their month-long stay (one double bed).
- Compensation for flight to and from Italy from country of residence.
$30 application fee; apply by January 15, 2014.
Berlin, Germany: The Vilém Flusser Residency Programme for Artistic Research supports projects and activities which are simultaneously conceptual and practice-based. The programme is geared towards the initiation of new research or to the further development of existing projects. The residency period is three months, May 1-July 31, 2014. The applicant selected by the jury will have the opportunity to further develop the submitted project during the time of the residency. The programme includes: Travel costs to Berlin, stipend of 3000 EUR (1000 EUR per month) and workspace in the Vilém Flusser Archive at the University of Arts (UdK) in Berlin. Deadline to apply: December 1, 2013.
CCNY (Camera Club of New York) invites emerging photographers living in New York City to apply for the 2014 Darkroom Residency Program. Darkroom Residents receive three months of free, 24/7 access to the CCNY facilities, free admission to all 2014 CCNY events, plus a monthly stipend and donated material support during their residency. All artists currently residing in New York City who are working in photography or lens-based art are eligible to apply. Please note that living accommodations are not provided. Students must have completed their studies on or before January 1, 2014 in order to be eligible to apply. Deadline to apply: December 9, 2013.
Ghent, NY: Artists invited to apply for the ART OMI/OMI International Artists residency program, June 19-July 16, 2014. Selected artists are provided with private studio, shared living quarters and meals at no cost, but are responsible for own travel and material expenses. Submit by November 30, 2013.
