Tokyo, Japan: Artists invited to apply for International Creator Residency Program via Tokyo Wonder Site from 1/7-3/29. Deadline to apply: 8/2.

Lithuania: Nida Art Colony offers CURATED and INDEPENDENT 2 to 6-month Arts Residencies for invited or selected open call professional artists, designers, architects, curators, art critics and art researchers from Lithuania and around the world. Apply by 6/15 for Jaunary-May residencies.


The Society of Architectural Historians’ prestigious H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship will be offered for the first time in 2013 and will allow a recent PhD graduate or emerging scholar to study by travel for one year with a $50,000 grant. Apply by 10/1.

The Christianson Grant awards $2,500 – $10,000 to individuals, 18-28, who have arranged their own work abroad programs. Proposed programs must be at least six months in length and emphasize a work component. Application deadlines: March 15, July 15 & October 15

Aspiring Travel Photographers: Go on an assignment to Greenland from 8/26-9/6 with a NatGeo photographer in World Nomads’ 2013 Travel Photography Scholarship competition. Amateur photographers only, 18+. Enter by 7/12.

Creative Nonfiction and Arizona State University’s Global Institute of Sustainability are looking for remarkable (unpublished) true stories that illuminate and present the human side of environmental, economic, ethical and/or social challenges related to the state of the planet and our future. All essays submitted will be considered for publication in a special “Human Face of Sustainability” issue of Creative Nonfiction magazine. One writer will be awarded the $10,000 Walton Sustainability Solutions Best Creative Nonfiction Essay Award. Submit by 5/31.

The Cord Prize is an international contemporary art award established to support and acknowledge the practice of early and mid-career photographers. The award comprises an individual first prize of $10,000, second prize of $1,000 and third prize of $500. $30 entry fee; deadline to apply: 6/9.
